Campus Celeb: Kathryn LillieBy February 6, 2013 - 3:00am Kathryn Lillie, advertising and Spanish major, is not your average senior at University of Oregon. Originally from Milwaukie, Kathryn has a long-time hobby which is just recently beginning to take off as her first business venture: painting shoes. She first starting sketching as soon as she could hold a pencil, and her pursuit of painting followed soon after. However, she has never taken a formal art class. In her sophomore year of high school, Kathryn saw a rather unique pair of custom-painted shoes, and decided to try her own hand at the challenge. She painted her first pair of shoes, titled “Night Wish,” based on album art with a pair of knock off vans. Since then, she has painted around ten pairs of shoes, mostly for friends.... |

UO Acrobatics and Tumbling: Lauren LoosBy January 18, 2013 - 8:42pm While sipping tea at a campus café on a foggy Friday morning, Lauren Loos has the appearance of someone without a care in the world. She has an evervescent smile and confident demeanor that is opposite of the chilly weather outside. With the calm that radiates from her, one would not expect that not only is she a full time student, she is a member of Allen Hall Advertising, a media planner for New Venture Championship, and devotes around 20 hours a week to the U of O Acrobatics and Tumbling team. This is one young woman who is motivated, dedicated, and somehow finds a way to remain composed and cheerful with a plate that has been back to the buffet for thirds and fourths. Others may know her from a dance, economics or even a psych course. Either way, this public relations/advertising double major with minors in dance, econ, and psych is one busy girl. She just finished up an internship with JetBlue Airways in New York City this summer, and has several other internships under her belt. She is hard working, ambitious, and full of personality.
