“Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oneonta chapter.

Marilyn Monroe once said, “Wanting to be someone else is a waste of the person you are.”

Girls today are obsessed with body image and the way they look. One day it’s to be as skinny as can be, the next it’s “slim thick,” and another day it’s “accept yourself.” We are constantly picking out not only our own flaws but everyone else’s. Instead of having confidence in ourselves and our image. Everyone is beautiful in their own way so here are a few reminders when you’re not feeling comfortable in your own skin!

  1. Someone out there thinks you’re perfect.

  2. It’s okay to not be a size zero.

  3. Natural beauty is better than starving yourself or harming your body.

  4. Trends change, but you don’t have to.

  5. Beauty is on the inside too, not just physical appearance.

  6. Be confident!

  7. Some people can look “perfect,” but if they have an ugly personality, looks mean nothing.

  8. Own your body and your flaws.

  9. Forget about the boys who don’t see you for the amazing person you are.

  10. Don’t let media tell you how to live your life.

  11. BE YOU!
