Vacation Aspirations

Over the wonderful Snow Day, when I knew I should’ve been studying, I may or may not have ended up lounging in my bed snacking and watching TV. I knew it was wrong, but relaxing just felt so right :) Instead of finalizing my Psych notes, I ended up daydreaming about Spring Break and how nice it would be to escape from the weather for a day. So here are my favorite ideas for a fun, much-needed getaway.

As much as I love the snowy hills of Oneonta, some heat would be perfect right now. Imagine warm sun, soft sand, and clear blue ocean as far as the eye can see. That, my friends, is what led me to the secluded Shoal Bay, Anguilla. If you’re not familiar with it, Anguilla is a small island in the Caribbean, just an hour trip from Puerto Rico, and a fraction of that from other nearby islands like St. Kitts and St. Thomas. This Caribbean hot spot is groomed with exotic snorkeling locations, historical landmarks dating back three centuries, and nightly entertainment in the form of local musicians. Haven’t you always wanted to swim with the dolphins, ladies?

But what I really need is utter relaxation. The Wellness Tours provided  by Lux World Travel seem ideal. A tempting trip to Thailand initiated a wonderful stream of daydreams. The program offers yoga on the beach, cleansing religious rituals, and scores of massages and therapeutic experiences. Cleansing and restoring would be heavenly, especially on the soothing shores of Thailand’s foreign soil.

Next I thought about more adventurous locales. Born in Philly and raised in Buffalo, I’ve been accustomed to snowfall since birth. Naturally, I seek out a cozy cottage with the chance for thrills. Mount Tremblant has been open for over fifty years, and has a rustic charm that is absolutely irresistible. Quebec’s French heritage enhances this prime ski spot in northeastern Canada with a classical atmosphere. Skiing, snowboarding, snowmobiling, even dog-sledding—you name it, they provide it.

Maybe I didn’t plan out my dream vacations entirely—cost, time, etc. But today was a wonderful day to let my imagination run. For some more interesting local spots, I definitely recommend Cooperstown, which is quaint but has surprisingly engaging events and places, like the Baseball Hall of Fame and the Flycreek Cider Mill. Or check out student deals for a girls’ trip to New York. A weekend away can be crazy fun, and not as expensive as you’d believe. Save up a little, and splurge on a memorable adventure with your friends, or even just you and your close friend. March is a long month, especially in Oneonta, so why not make time fly? :)
