Tips From Someone in Her Last Semester of College

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oneonta chapter.

It is the beginning of spring semester, and for some of you, like myself, your last semester as an undergrad. The mixed emotions I have about graduating have crept up on me. Time has flown by super fast and these past few years have been challenging but rewarding at the same time. I thought I’d share some friendly advice before you’re in the same place as myself.

Waking up early to go to a class you dread, or staying up all night to study for that one exam, is worth it. You accomplish more than you know in just four short years of college; these are the best years of your life, so make them count academically!

Don’t yell at your roommates for not taking out the trash, cleaning their side or emptying the dishwasher. You won’t remember any of these arguments years down the line, so don’t let 5 minutes of arguing hurt your roommate dynamic.

Was the boy worth it? The one you’d wish would text you but all he truly wanted to know was what you were doing at 2AM, or even one you admire from afar but may not even know if you exist? You may find your soulmate at college, you may mess up, just know that you live and you learn and that’s the beauty of life.

Never be afraid to have fun; let loose on the weekends, whether it’s going to a party, the bar, or having a night in with your girls. Always give yourself a night or two of fun; it gives you a perfect balance.

Stop worrying about your future plans. Trust me, no matter what year you are in college, the post grad plans will always be a question at the family table. Live in the moment and be proud of it.

The real world is closely approaching for me and I look back on all of the memories and friendships I’ve made, the realizations I’ve had, the people I’ve met, the knowledge I’ve gained, and I wouldn’t take any of it back for a second. You close your eyes and the best years of your life are over before you know it, so create memories that will last you a lifetime!
