The annual “Pass Through The Pillars” ceremony at SUNY Oneonta happened on August 28th to wrap up orientation and begin the Red Dragon experience for our new freshmen and transfer students. This ceremony has been an Oneonta tradition since 2004, where new students pass through two pillars from the original building, Old Main, which was built in 1889. As an orientation leader this fall, I got to witness new students experience college life for the first time and participate in one of my favorite SUNY Oneonta traditions. There were so many students who participated during “Pass Through The Pillars” and I managed to get quite a few snapshots!
