This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Oneonta chapter.

Still hungry shortly after eating a meal? Most people are. The solution to this common craving for snacking after a meal is simple. Adding some fiber to your meals will keep you satisfied throughout the day. This helps with weight loss and maintaining your body weight. By eating healthy foods that are low in calories but high in volume, fiber and protein, you can satisfy your hunger and keep your calorie intake under control . Protein is a filling component because it is slowly digested and makes you feel full longer. 1. Eat protein with each meal. For example, for breakfast in the morning have some egg whites which contain a good amount of protein.

2. Keep your portions under control. Eat a palm-sized piece of chicken or fish which is the average piece you should eat. Each serving has roughly 100 calories.

3. Avoid foods that are dense in calories, such as butter, sugar, ice cream and cakes.

4. Consume high fiber foods such as oatmeal, whole grain pasta, whole grain crackers, etc.

5. Consume lentils and legumes in most meals, such as adding beans to a salad which have high fiber and high protein.
