Remember when we all fell in love with Lorde four years ago, connected with her hit “Royals” on a spiritual level, and then she disappeared? Well, the 20 year old (yes, you read that correctly) New Zealand singer-songwriter is back with a follow-up album to Pure Heroin. The lead single, Green Light, was released on March 2nd. It’s slower and more emotional than Royals but definitely still worthy of blasting in the car or pre-gaming to. Listen to it below:
In the weeks leading up to the release of the single, Lorde has been tweeting how proud she is of these new lyrics, saying that they are “the best I’ve written in my life” and that they reflect the “last 2 wild, fluorescent years of my life.”
i am so proud of this song. it’s very different, and kinda unexpected. it’s complex and funny and sad and joyous and it’ll make you DANCE
