Why do you do that? How can you do that? Do you not realize what you do has a ripple effect? Look around, do you not see us? We are here every day, are we not enough for you to just stop? Why don’t you reach out? Are you scared? Embarrassed? Or just don’t care.

You burn your insides every day, but why? I will probably never understand why you do this. Why you put yourself through this and put others at danger or at risk when you pick up those keys to go get more.

Does it make you happy? Take you away from this world of chaos? Wait you do know I am a part of this world. You are a part of my world, my life dreams and hopes in life all include you by my side. I hold my hand out but you don’t seem to latch because of those weights that are holding you down.

The doctors all tell you to stop but you continue. Lab results are not enough to scare you into reality. Lonely nights in the hospital are routine. Masking that pain with jokes that we don’t find funny is your specialty. You don’t realize it but this hurts us more than it hurts you.

Before it is too late I just want to let you know that I am here, we are here. Love seems like it is not enough but it is all we have. As tears stain the skin on our cheeks I hope you know we will always be here. We will fight this, we have to fight this and can’t lose.
