Nowadays, everyone wants to be a rapper and I’m sure at least one of your friends are trying to pursue a music career.

But for Chuck G. his love of music has flourished into just that: a career. From collaborations with names such as Tory Lanez and others, this man’s future is very bright.

Chuck G. is a 21 year old artist, “T-town reppin'” from Tulsa, OK. His love of music has grown since the 3rd grade but it wasn’t until he was 14 that he started to pursue his musical dream. When I asked him who his biggest influence was in the music world, he told he didn’t have just one. He replied, “I actually have a couple of influences; my love for music started with Linkin Park and then T.I, Drake and then Fabolous came along.” Judging by his music these artists definitely influenced him in some way shape or form.

Moving onto questions that the fans would want to know the answers to, I asked him if he had any new projects coming up and a small smile grew on his face as he said, “I have a short project titled “From Me to You” coming soon and working on a whole EP in the future.” Working on music is one thing but creating a whole EP is another. It takes countless hours in the studio and sleepless nights, so I’m excited to hear what he comes up with.

It was only right that I ask him where he saw himself in 5 years and his response was different than I expected. “Honestly, I see myself in 5 years wherever God has to lead me to, hopefully it’s Miami and touring.”

Every artist has to start somewhere, trying to find places that will let him or her perform there, but for Chuck G. his venues have gotten bigger and bigger. He tells me, “My biggest performance was at the Up Next Festival or The Groove Yard, I NEED more shows.” The Up Next festival is a showcase for up and coming artists from around Oklahoma and other places. Definitely a great platform for new artists to get their name out there and network.

As I said before he has had many collaborations, so I asked which was one his favorite and how was it working with them. He said, “My favorite collab is either out of Tory Lanez or one of the guys from my circle, I love all my music the same so it’s kinda hard.” Throughout this interview a smile was glued to his face, and his energy remained high throughout. “Working with Tory Lanez was very eye opening to how things work. We were never in the same room just phone calls and facetimes. I actually was supposed to work with him in 2012 but I made other choices with my career. He’s been a very big role model since I was 16 so it’s kinda surreal to be cool with him at this point in both of our lives!”

Anyone who knows me should know how much I love Tory Lanez and the fact that someone from Tulsa, OK has worked with him is so crazy to me.

Chuck G. also has a nice following on his social media platforms but I had to check them out again. There’s one selfie of himself and a lot of pictures of actress Paige Audrey Marie Hurd so I had to ask him about her: “I see you’re in love with Paige Hurd is she bae?” He laughed as he responded, “Paige isn’t bae yet! Ha but I do have a crush on her and I find her interesting. I remember seeing her on Cradle 2 then Suite Life of Zack & Cody and that’s when I knew I had to see her one day. Hopefully, one day turns into forever!” He’s definitely feeling her vibe.

As we all know concerts can get a little crazy sometimes so I asked: “What was the craziest thing that happened at one of your performances?” He responded, “Craziest thing was when I was back in my OP days I choked on stage! I was humbled for sure!” Imagine choking on stage in front of a crowd! I’m sure it was very embarrassing but as he said he was humbled from the event.

I wanted to know what the process was like for Chuck G when creating his music. “My music is created by a great beat from John Kalin or Sir Money and then I kinda make a melody in my head and repeat the melody until words come to mind. I don’t know it’s weird but then we sit down and start painting the words and giving them color!” No matter what you do in life we all have different processes. I know for me since I’m an artist before I paint a piece I have to be inspired then I just sketch on a canvas like I would in a sketchbook and then I start to paint. Learning about his process was a different perspective than what I’ve known from being in the art world.

As the interview was coming to a close I had one more question: Who’s your dream producer/songwriter to work with? “Dream producer…that’s kinda hard. One would be 40 or Soundwave or Thundercat. I definitely want to create a record with Rick Ross and Fabolous together!” If you didn’t know, 40 is one of the hottest producers in the game right now. He works with Drake so you know all he makes is straight fire!

It was great interviewing Chuck G. I learned a lot about him more than I would have ever learned from his Instagram full of Paige Hurd and his one lonely selfie.
