Reason To Go on a Mission Trip

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

As a college student, you’re full of obstacles both good and bad. You start to feel yourself distance yourself from the good things in your life like cherishing the small things in life, your relationship with your friends and family, and most importantly your faith.

During your youth is when people encourage you to travel and it’s when even yourself feel like it’s the perfect time, you’re full of less responsibilities or at least for most college students so why not combine both traveling and your faith while you still have so many opportunities!

You’ll expand your limited perspectives.

Many of us are stuck on a spiritual rut. Every now and then you need to step out of your comfort zone and allow God to stretch you. You’ll get to experience how other Christians worship as well. Discover how they practice their faith and how they build churches. The way we practice ministry in the United States is not the only way and you’ll get to learn from people you’ll minister to.

You’ll become more graceful.

When you travel to another country and get to interact and experience their culture you realize that others don’t come with the same advantages as you. You’ll leave that trip with an attitude adjustment. When you come back things you never acknowledged before like the water you shower with, nice roads, or toilets that flush start to become more valued.

You overcome your fears.

Being surrounded by people who are also trying to grow in their faith helps you put yourself out there emotionally. You notice that other students like you are also struggling with similar problems or also went through that stage. Surrounding yourself with those people allows you to open yourself and create strong bonds with your peers.Everybody has a purpose in life and your on that mission trip at that moment to share your love and life that God granted you with, so those small things holding you back only strengthen your confidence.
