Self-confident, assertive, a natural leader, a woman both women AND men tend to follow.
She is feminine, sexually-aware, and instinctual, she falls into this role not by force, but by either expertise, planning/maneuvering, she is the ultimate woman.
When I was in high school, I realized that I was in fact an Alpha Woman in every aspect of my life,
and ever since then I never stopped being one, but sometimes people can take your confidence the wrong way.
Here are a couple of phrases that I’m sure me and all my fellow alpha women are tired of hearing!
“Do you want to come to ____ tonight?” If there was a polite way to say no, we would definitely say it all the time. Trust me we love events, fundraisers, and anything to do with our social lives, but if it wasn’t planned in our calendars already, we will most likely decline. If you catch us next week after our 2:00 lab, and during the 30 minute break we have between the daily meetings and lunch break we could possibly do something together! Well…..how about I just let you know when I am free.
“You never want to go out, live a little! From constantly running everywhere, to trying to stay on top of the classes we are taking, sometimes rest seems like the better option than a night out. We’ve spent a whole week balancing our entire lives, and somedays manage to put on a full face of makeup to look presentable to our weekly events. I think binge watching Netflix and munching on our favorite snacks is well deserved.
“Don’t you think you are taking on way too much?” In simple regards, no, we do not feel as if we are taking on too much, as a matter of fact we wish that we could be on the executive board for more organizations, put in more volunteer hours, and still manage to be the most confident person that you know. Yes, it can be overwhemling at times, but the things that we dedicate our lives to give us great joy, and we wouldn’t trade it for the world. (Plus, when your goal is to be a future CEO you have to like the challenges!)
“So why are you still single?” A phrase that baffles us more than it baffles you. We are strong, confident women, who know what they want out of life, and do not let anybody run over us. At the same time we will care for you, support you through thick and thin, and be fully committed to any relationship we take on. You find us intimidating you say? We are sorry intimidation is for the weak, only a REAL man who is willing to pursue us are worth it all.
“Will you be the DD for tonight?” NO NO NO! Standing in a crowded room full of sweaty, dilusional people is not our ideal weekend. Plus taking care of a drunk person isn’t what we envisioned at the end of our endearing week. Trust me no amount of apologies can replace the puke filled seat, alcohol drenched clothes, and makeup stains. We do not empower the world the whole week just to be dethroned by your drunk habits.
“I think you should skip ___ to come do ____.” Many times I’ve been told to just skip class, it will be alright, or you can finish that paper later, to “Please come have fun“. Every alpha female knows that if she skips class, and her GPA drops that all her goals go out the window, and to stop our creative process to go hang out, that is literally throwing our grades to the grave. How about you just catch us in between that break and binge watching netflix.
At the end of the day we love our friends and the people around us, but trust us we have our lives figured out for the most part.
