5 Things About the New AHS Season Premiere That Baffled Fans

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at OK State chapter.

Last Wednesday, there were a lot of anxious fans awaiting the return of their creepy-but-beloved television series, American Horror Story.

For months, the creators and the returning actors have teased us with images and previews of what this season had in store, yet no one seemed to be able to guess what the theme was. It was so much of a secret that viewers believed that the theme to be was the logo they chose with the number 6 and a question mark.

Yet the time had come that antsy viewers would be able to finally find out what all of those previews meant.

And what would come would confuse us all.

1. Where was the opening theme?

Any die hard fan would recognize the opening theme. Yet when the show began, there was NO THEME. Ryan Murphy, what have you done with it? Like, the creepiness of the sounds, and the music is what set the scary tone to the show, and he decided not to start the first episode with a theme.

It’s understandable, however, as we knew from past shows, what we were getting ourselves into. So, it’s not a surprise that Murphy would deprive us of an easy solve by giving us an opening theme to find out from.

2. EVAN PETERS IS MISSING

Okay, we can all handle the missing opening theme. HOWEVER, MURPHY, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH OUR PRECIOUS MAN? Most fans anticipated to see Peters show up as the premiere went on, but Evan was a no-show. This made us fangirls so depressed, and some normal fans even were distressed that the actor didn’t turn up in the beginning. It wouldn’t be the first time, however. In Hotel, Evan didn’t show in the first episode either, but I think it’s a good thing. It keeps the Evan fans watching, and it keeps the normal fans guessing.

Who will he turn up as next?

3. Narration?

What is this? There’s narrators in this season! This is weird enough, and although it’s different, was it a good call? Many fans took to social media to express their annoyance of the narration of the story.

What’s the plan here, Murphy?

4. But Lily Rabe is one of the narrators…

This is the only thing we have to know that these narrations aren’t real people, like some had believed. At first, Lily Rabe had only brief shots, her character having little face time for us to identify. However, after some time, they started to keep her on the screen longer, and up popped the light bulb as we all started to recognize her familiar beauty.

5. Roanoke…?

This is NEW indeed. Roanoke is only heard about in history class, and that’s a brief explaination by our teachers before we focus more on Jamestown. This should be an interesting topic to cover, for sure, and I cannot wait to see what Murphy, and the gang do with this theme.

Tell me at @HCOklahomaState if you found anything else confusing, because I’m sure as heck excited for this week’s episode!!
