1 in 5 women will be sexually assaulted their first year of college.
This number is uncomfortably high, and even though you may not be a victim of sexual assault someone you know just might be. In the last year, one in ten teens have reported being physically hurt on purpose by a boyfriend or girlfriend. One in five young women have been sexually assaulted while they’re in college.
If you know someone that has been a victim of sexual violence, listen to their story and offer support. Don’t place blame and refrain from judgment. Help them seek the help that they need, whether that be at their University, the local police station, or at loveisrespect.org.
