Every freshman begins college thinking the next four years will be easy and fun. As a senior, here’s a short list of the few lessons I’ve learned and things I wish I would’ve known as a freshman.

Enjoy the dining hall food.

Use a planner.

It’s okay to stay in if you’re tired.

Go to the gym by yourself.

Use the weight machines at the gym. The guys will not mind, nor say anything.

Join different clubs.

Run for positions of leadership, even if you aren’t sure you’ll win.

Enjoy time alone.

Go to the party, you can sleep later.

Pull an all-nighter, for a good grade, is worth it

Eat the entire pint of ice cream in one sitting.

Stay in and have wine nights with your gal pals when you can.

Never let a boy ruin your night.

Don’t cry on a night out, you’ll regret it in the morning.

Don’t drunk text the guy in class.

Or the ex.
-
It’s OK to block a guy’s number if he refuses to leave you alone.

Fight for loyal friends.

Don’t let people walk all over you.
20.Have sleepovers with your friends as much as you can.

Go to professor office hours.

Go to grab coffee with a professor giving professional advice.

Use LinkedIn and take it seriously.

Live in a house with air conditioning.

Get a house with a dishwasher.

Learn to deal with people who are different than you.

Never talk bad about someone who has been there for you.

Enjoy every weekend.

Coffee is your friend. Learn to enjoy it.

Keep backup phone chargers.

Keep backup headphones too.
-
Find your favorite spot in the library to study.

Stand up for what you believe in.

Go home on the weekends and see family at least one weekend besides holidays.

Enjoy every second of college.

You don’t always need the textbook for every class in college… no matter what the syllabus says.

If you fail a test, you will still graduate.

Some professors are a-holes.
-
Some professors are best friends.
-
Don’t get too far ahead of yourself.
-
Love yourself.
-
Be proud of yourself.
