Frisbees soaring through the air, t-shirts and sweatpants all supporting your school’s name, streets filled with nothing but big parties and friendly faces everywhere you go… What does this remind you of? A college movie.
We watch movies like Accepted and The Neighbors to get an idea of what the next four years of our lives have in store. However, for most colleges, this is highly inaccurate. There aren’t always people playing games around campus, people are not always wearing your college gear, and not everyone is all that nice. People are generally disappointed when they come to college and realize that the “amazing frat party with all the hot people” is only an average party in the basement of a dirty house consisting of people standing around sipping beer. But, Ohio University is not the kind of school that disappoints. OU is a mixture of every great college movie you can think of, combined to form the perfect university.
The Party Scene: When you come to college, many people think there will be parties everyday. Most colleges do not have big bashes or something fun to do every night of the week but here at Ohio University, we do. Whether it be the big house parties during the fall, winter and fest season or attending the bar specials (ex. Margarita Mondays, Liquor Pitcher Wednesdays, etc.) at one of the many bars in Athens, there is always something social to do any night of the week.

The Atmosphere: It is nearly impossible to walk across campus in the fall or spring and not see numerous students hanging out on one of the greens. People toss around a football, do homework in the grass, or just simply sit outside and soak up the fantastic air. It definitely creates a positive mood when you see so many students out enjoying the nice weather that Athens has to offer.
The People: Anyone can argue that their college has nice students, and there is unfortunately no proven way to measure this. However, not many people can say the vast majority of the people at their college are genuinely the nicest people you will ever meet. Whether it be waiting a few extra seconds to hold to door open for the person behind you, smiling at a stranger to make their day a little bit better, walking a drunken stranger home or just being a nice person, you can always count on a Bobcat to brighten your day.

The Bobcat Pride: Being a Bobcat means more than just being a student at Ohio University. It means having true pride in being a student here. We look out for everyone’s best interests, not just our own. We are involved members at the university and in the Athens community. We work hard to academically succeed and know how to celebrate right once our work is done like a true Bobcat should.
I know I cannot speak for everyone, but I am pretty sure that most OU students can agree with me when I say Ohio University is the best college out there. From the amazing students, to the fun parties, to the bobcat pride, Ohio University truly has it all, just like the movies.
