Get Crafty During the Holidays

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Ohio U chapter.

It is almost time to pack up and head home for the holidays. It is a bittersweet thing; you don’t want to leave Athens, but you are so excited to head home. But once you have been home for a few days, the excitement starts to fade. It has happened: you are bored. Replenish that excitement by doing some of these fun crafts. Encourage your family to join you for some bonding time!

1. Mugs

This DIY project is so easy and inexpensive. All you need is a blank mug and some oil-based Sharpies. Draw your little heart out, bake, and you are done! Check out the full tutorial here.

2. Geode Rings

These rings are so simple to make, but they look as if they were bought from a boutique. These are great to make for yourself or to make as gifts for friends and family. Learn how to make these gorgeous rings here.

3. Throw Pillows

Jazz up any futon, couch, or bed with these personal pillows. I recommend using fabric paint. If you don’t know how to sew, I suggest buying a white throw pillow rather than making one.

4. Scarves

The weather is getting colder, so it is a great idea to make some scarves to keep you warm! If you have sewing skills, this 10 minute tutorial is perfect. You can also try this no-sew scarf.

5. Wreath

Bring some holiday cheer to your front door with a cute wreath. Use inexpensive coffee filters to make this holiday wreath, or make this lovely wreath with metallic ornaments.
