Since all of us current student are too busy drowing in work or trying to save our grades HC ODU reached out some alumni for our profile this week! Brandon Xavier Tripp graduated from ODU in the Fall of 2014 with a degree in Pyschology.
HC: What made you chose your major and career?
BT: What made me choose psychology, was the intrigue of how the mind works. Psychology is interesting and I fell in love with the behaviors in in which people demonstrate, and their thought process behind it.

HC: Do you have any regrets with your choice?
BT: I do not have any regrets with my choice, I feel it has helped me developed relationships with those around me, and perspective. Especially having the opportunity to branch off and work with children and adults to complete some type of counseling.
HC: Was it easy to find a job in your field?
BT: It was quite difficult finding a job with my field, especially not having my masters (in which I intend to go and obtain).
HC: What’s the most challenging thing about psychology?
BT: The most challenging part about psychology was trying to understand the brain and quantitive methods (with repeated methods, quasi experimental design, etc).
HC: Do you ever get bored of your work?
BT: No, I do not get bored of my work, I work as a behavior therapist working with autistic children, and each moment trying to help them develop and progress is an amazing feeling.
HC: What are some advances you hope to make in the next few years?
BT: Within the next few years, I hope to become an even better ABA therapist, or even a counselor covering substance abuse, marriage/family, etc.
HC: What do you miss most about ODU?
BT: What I miss the most about odu is the atmosphere. I enjoyed being around my peers, and the vibes that were created, especially in class that I had with Dr. Jason Parker.
HC: What was your hardest class here?
BT: My hardest class by far was psychology 317 Quantitive methods.
HC: What’s your favorite memory as a monarch?
BT: My favorite memory as a monarch was going to the poetry sessions and classes which helped me developed friendships with my peers.
