Study Abroad Diaries: Au RevoirBy May 28, 2013 - 9:40am At first I was shocked. Then I was shocked that I was shocked, and after that I was just simply excited. The sight of a baseball diamond from a birds eye view as my plane approached Newark International Airport literally hit me close to home. The outline of the field is a common sight from airplanes when flying domestically in the United States, but it was a shape I didn’t even notice was absent during my travels over the past five months. Study Abroad Diaries: Cheerio, London. CheerioBy May 16, 2013 - 11:49am As I write my last entry, I am filled and overwhelmed with emotion. I am so excited to go home and see my family, but I will definitely miss London and the people I’ve met here. After all, who knows when I’ll be back... The next time I come to London, I could have kids or even grandkids. I may never return to the city at all. If I come back, what will it look like? Having once lived in London, how will my perspective change...or will it? No one knows what the future holds, but I am so glad I was given the opportunity to explore London and become immersed in the wonderful British culture. READ MORE |

Study Abroad Diaries: Little London ExcursionsBy April 19, 2013 - 1:17pm An eventful week in London, indeed! There were a lot of good things that happened this week, and some bad. Bad things first: I got sick (again) Thursday, but this time I have rhinosinusitis, the fancy and dramatic way of saying sinus infection, along with a double ear infection. Luckily, I was able to see a private doctor who gave me effective antibiotics. As a result, I was instructed to stay in my room and sleep and wait to resume classes on Monday. That put a bit of a damper on my weekend plans (I’ll have a tall rum and coke on the rocks...but hold the rum). READ MORE |

Study Abroad Diaries: Second Half of the Semester BeginsBy April 14, 2013 - 11:25am It is a well-accepted fact that the second half of the semester is bound to be more hectic than the first, no matter where you study. In each semester you have your bad months, filled with midterms, papers, and finals, and ‘easier’ months. In the fall, September and November are relatively calmer than October and December. Similarly in the spring, February and April are manageable while March and May are crazy. Right now we are in April, the ‘calm-before-the-storm’ month. Looking at my schedule in May, I realize I better enjoy and take advantage of this ‘calmer’ month before I become chained to my desk. So, London, these next three weeks are probably going to be the best ones we ever spend together.... |
