Ben Neiley Is The Most Followed Man on WANELO (And An NYU Student)

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NYU chapter.

With over 550,000 stores and 30 million products, WANELO (Want, Need, Love) is a relatively new but burgeoning online shopping mall. Stay tuned to read about Ben Neiley, who is the most followed man on WANELO, as well as one of the faces for the class of 2019!

1. Ben Neiley ‘19

School: Gallatin

Major: Undecided, hopeful Fashion Business

Hometown: Colorado

Relationship Status: Single

2. Favorite…

Study Spot: 2nd floor of Rubin

Musical Group (s): Years & Years, Troye Sivan

Clothing Brand: Zara

Snack: Cucumbers

Person: Anna Wintour (Vogue Editor-in-Chief)

3. You are the most followed man on the well known social shopping platform,  WANELO. When and how did this happen?

“So, I reached this status about three years ago. I joined WANELO on a whim, because I was simply interested. At the time, WANELO was looking for more involvement from men, because users were predominantly female. They found my page and I guess they liked the looks of what I was collecting. So they started pushing me to be more active, and also shared my account with the public. Gradually, more and more users started sharing and saving my products, and it has been growing ever since.”

4. What kind of unique opportunities has this title brought you?

“Ever since WANELO, I’ve been working with a few different brands. Right now, I am the most involved with Nordstrom. They contact me, and I regularly endorse and sponsor their products. I have also worked with some smaller start up companies which is nice too. Another neat opportunity that WANELO has brought me is that I get to attend parties and special events hosted by J. Crew and Louis Vuitton. Oh, and also- ever since my involvement with WANELO, I have also had the opportunity to launch my own blog: Non Native New Yorker!

5. On top of all this, you have also been selected to be one of the “Faces” for the class of 2019. What have you been up to so far?

“It’s honestly been really fun. The best part is the wonderful community of fifteen other people that I’ve been able to surround myself with. Connecting with the “faces” abroad has been especially cool. To add, through this program, I’ve been able to meet so many awesome upperclassmen who have been so friendly and helpful.”

6. What are your plans for the future?

“I am very interested in working in the fashion industry, but I have a lot of different interests. Really, I just want something that challenges my creative and intellectual side… not a typical office job where you sit around all day. So, whether it be fashion, music, or politics, I just want to be active and travelling around.”

7. If you could choose three adjectives to sum up your dream soulmate, what would they be?

“Benevolent, motivated, and of course, let’s be honest- attractive.”

8. Just for fun! Yay or Nay?

Orange Lipstick: Nay

Leather Biker Jackets: Depends on your aesthetic

Crocs: Nay

Pixie Cuts: Yay

Jumpsuits: Yay

Choker Necklines: Nay

9. Celebrity crush?

“Definitely… Harry Styles.”
