As much as I love my lipsticks and mascaras – and I LOVE my lipsticks and mascaras – my obsession over skincare products knows no bounds!  Well, except my budget…

Let’s face it – some skincare products cost more than those 50lbs textbooks for chemistry that you inevitably must buy (ugh).  If it were up to me, I’d be using my money on a new winter moisturizer (hey winter), but our local drugstores have some hidden treasures too.

Last Sunday, at 3 a.m., I paid a visit to Duane Reade’s to get some fuel for my all-nighter at Bobst, and, lo and behold, I found a new drugstore beauty treasure: Freeman Beauty’s Feeling Beautiful face masks!  I saw a review for these a couple months ago, and in my midnight coma, I decided to give them a try.

I got the Açai Facial Purifying Clay Mask – it was the best $5 I’ve ever spent at Duane Reade’s!

First of all, these tubes are huge!  You get 6oz of product for under $5, and I know this triggers the “this is too cheap, it can’t be good” alarm in your head.  Wrong.  The mask I bought had a nice fruity scent but not overpowering like you just spilled Bath & Body Works everywhere.  I could feel the clay drying and pulling my skin taut, and this is usually when I get worried.  Yet, when I washed it off, my skin felt clean without feeling stripped of moisture and soft without any left over residue.  What was this strange magic?

After some research (done at Bobst with a nosy neighbor peeking over – that’s right I saw you), I realized that I’ve been missing out for a long time.  The Feeling Beautiful products have a HUGE range of products to address every skin issue.  Dull skin?  Check.  Stressed skin?  Check.  Oily skin? Check.

On top of that, Allure awarded the Charcoal and Black Sugar Facial Polishing Mask a Best of Beauty 2013 award – #winning.

They also have some amazing paper masks for literally $2.  I poached the Blue Agave Hydrating Facial Paper Mask from work and accidently scared my roommates, but hey, my skin was as soft as a baby’s bum afterwards.

Seriously, if you don’t want to spend a small fortune on expensive face masks and treatments, this is the route to go!  Walgreens and Duane Reade’s both have them in the beauty isle with the organic brands.

My only tip:  research which specific product you want to buy since not every store carries the full line.  I know the Duane Reade’s at Union Square has the Açai and Cooling Cucumber masks, but if you’re looking for another, call ahead to different stores to see if they have it!  Or order online – cause I’m about to press the “submit order” on my next mask!
