Review: Is It Just “Another” Wine Bar?

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Calling all you wine enthusiasts, I can assure you that you’ll love this review so keep reading. Whilst on the search for a new place to review for you guys, I stumbled across Another? Wine Bar. To answer your question already, no it’s not just another wine bar as it is Nottingham’s first ever self-serve wine bar that only opened just over a month ago in Trinity Square. This wine bar has over 30 different wines, sparkling wines and champagnes available for you by the glass, so you will be spoilt for choice.

Okay so now you’re probably wondering, how does it all work? Let me explain that part to you. As soon as you arrive, you will be greeted by their lovely staff and taken to your table, and you will be assigned a tab card. This card will be used to activate one of the three dispensing machines where you will have three glass sizes to choose from. The smallest amount you can serve yourself is a 25ml sample, a small glass consists of 125 ml and the large glass is 175ml.

Unfortunately, I can’t specify the prices for each amount as each bottle of wine has its own unique price, therefore this impacts the price of each serving. The dispensing machines state the price of each serving for all the different wines. From my understanding, if you wish to drink Prosecco or Champagne you will have to pay for this separately from the tab card.

When you are finished, you simply settle your tab and hand your tab card back to the staff. They permit you to split the bill if you are all paying separately, with card or cash.

To help you decide which wine to choose from each bottle has an information card on display for you to read. I found that the information card was really helpful as it displays the style, type of grape, colour, aroma, taste and alcohol percentage. After testing a few roses, my personal favourite is the Petticoat, White Zinfandel as I quote from the wine file reads “Much too easy to drink. Was an instant hit all around the table with a delicious flavour”.

The atmosphere of Another? Wine Bar has a very cosy feel to it and is the perfect place to go with either friends or on a date with a special someone who shares your love of wine. Although this wine bar is tucked away on the corner of Trinity Square, it has two floors which are beautifully decorated to achieve relaxing vibes whilst you enjoy your drinks. The bar is open every day apart from Monday and Tuesday, however, both days are available for private hire and you can get in touch with them for more details. Remember to drink responsibly.
