This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

The holidays are fast approaching, which means that festive Christmas trees, delectable food and sparkly lights are on their way! But who could forget about the new Christmas releases at the cinema? Here are the new films we’re most excited about watching this December.

Justice League – 17th November

Hype Rating – 8/10

Inspired by Superman’s selfless act to save humanity in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Bruce Wayne (aka Batman aka Ben Affleck) enlists the help of some new allies, including summer-box-office-stealing Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot) and franchise newbies Flash (Ezra Miller), Cyborg (Ray Fisher) and Aquaman (Jason Momoa).

Daddy’s Home Two – 22nd November

Hype Rating – 6/10

The sequel to the 2015 smash comedy, father and stepfather, Dusty (Mark Wahlberg) and Brad (Will Ferrell), join forces to give their kids the best Christmas ever. But their new partnership is tested when Dusty’s macho Father (Mel Gibson) and Brad’s ultra-affectionate Dad (John Lithgow) arrive just in time to throw the holiday into chaos.

Battle of the Sexes – 24th November

Hype Rating – 7/10

In 1973, the tennis match between Bobby Riggs and Billie Jean King became TV’s the most watched sporting event of all time. Trapped in the media’s eye, both players were on opposite sides of the gender argument, as they each struggled with their own personal battles off-court. King (Emma Stone) was fighting for equal pay whilst coming to terms with her own sexuality, while Riggs (Steve Carrell) gambled his reputation to relive the glory days of his past.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi – 14th November

Hype Rating – 10/10

Rey (Daisy Ridley) develops her newfound Jedi abilities with the guidance of the legendary Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) who is unsettled by the strength of her powers. Meanwhile, the Resistance, including Finn (John Boyega), Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) and new-girl Rose (Kelly Marie Tran), led by General Leia Organa (Carrie Fisher), prepare to do battle with General Snoke’s (Andy Serkis) First Order and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren.

Pitch Perfect 3 – 20th December

Hype Rating 5/10

Following the highs of winning the world championships, the Barden Bellas find themselves separated, and discovering that there aren’t many job opportunities for making music with your mouth. When they get the chance to reunite for an overseas tour, the group come together to make music and questionable decisions one last time. Featuring, as always, Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson and Brittany Snow, as well as new faces Ruby Rose and Hailee Steinfeld.
