The Best Celeb Weddings of 2014

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

Featuring a dress covered in doodles, an “orange bearer” and a few bicycles, here’s some of the best nuptial style seen this year.

Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka

If there ever was a magical wedding picture, it would be the above. Their guests reportedly watched a volley of fireworks set off in time to the crescendo of their first dance (skilful, eh?). Their daughter Harper was the flower girl, but their son Gideon had some issues with being the ring bearer. Talk show host Kelly Ripa, a guest at the wedding, revealed that he said, “I don’t want to be the ring bearer. I want to be the orange boy… he passed out oranges to everybody as he came down the aisle… he came up with it on his own. He had his little tux and his top hat and he passed out oranges.” Pretty. Darn. Cute.

George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin

A flotilla of boats took the wedding party down the Grand Canal in Venice, with guests including Cindy Crawford and Anna Wintour. The bride arrived in a boat named Amoré, wearing none other than Oscar de la Renta. Can you hear the breaking hearts? The silver fox has been well and truly snapped up.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

It wasn’t orderly or ordinary: it was Brangelina, their army of kids and a super crazy wedding dress designed by the children themselves. It almost felt like we were intruding upon something extremely ‘normal.’ Their children made the cake and Brad’s mum did the flower arranging (nice work Mrs Pitt). Intimate, low-key and something to remember.

Olivia Palermo and Johannes Huebl

The bridalwear game got totally changed by the star of The City as she got married in a jumper, a pair of shorts and a piece of tulle, still looking like an angel sent from heaven. Model Johannes complemented his bride in a tailored white Marc Anthony Hamburg suit. Thank you for blessing us with your beauty and class, Huebls. Make sure you check out Johannes’ Instagram; it’s sure to induce jealous crying over flawless ‘Sunday Selfies’, immaculate tailoring and real #couplegoals. Keep being hideously attractive and innovative, guys.

And the winners: Solange Knowles and Alan Ferguson

For one, their wedding snaps are absolute art. Everyone wore shades of white, the bride wore a jumpsuit for the most part and they cycled to their wedding. In addition, Solange took this first dance with her son

Does it get any better?
