Alumni Catch-Up: Naomi Upton

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Nottingham chapter.

It’s been a year since previous Campus Correspondent Naomi Upton graduated from University of Nottingham. We catch-up with her to talk about all things Her Campus and beyond…

How did you get involved with Her Campus and why?

I’ve always loved reading and writing topical articles and I was looking for a society that would allow me to do so in a fun, relaxed way.

What was your role?

I was a music reviewer, a features writer, and eventually Campus Correspondent.

What were some of the highlights from your time with Her Campus?

HC is great because you have so much freedom to write about what interests you. The end of year fashion show was definitely a highlight as well – we had such a good night!

How has your role helped you since graduating?

Having writing and editorial experience has been incredibly helpful considering the type of job I was looking for when I graduated: something in the field of copywriting and marketing.

Employers love to see that you’ve been involved in publications – it demonstrates loads of skills in relation to writing but also shows that you can manage your time effectively.

What are you up to now?

I’ve been working as a Digital Marketing Executive for over a year now, running social media pages and advertising for clients in the restaurant and hospitality industry.

Do you have any advice for current UoN students?

Just have fun and enjoy every minute (yes, even the long hard hours in Hallward). It’ll be over so quickly!

I'm a third year English student at University of Nottingham and when I'm not working or writing, I'm probably watching a Disney movie or listening to one of their soundtracks! I'm a Campus Correspondent for HC Nottingham and generally write about food, travel, and the food I've experienced on my travels!
