It’s a well-known fact that food always has a way of getting you through the day. Whether you’re looking for a jumpstart to your morning, a  strong midday pick me up, or a late night snack, Notre Dame has just the place for you. These four on-campus restaurants are perfect for the off-campus senior looking for an affordable lunch, the athlete looking for a punch of protein, or anyone looking for a quick on campus bite.

Waddick’s – O’Shag

I’m embarrassed to say that it’s taken me until my senior year to discover this treasure trove of a restaurant, and I hope that with this article I am saving someone else a great deal of time and regret. Located conveniently on the first floor of O’Shag, Waddick’s offers a variety of food and beverage options catering to every aspect of your day. Their daily lunch specials are quick, tasty, and affordable, featuring the likes of barbecue beef sandwiches, baked potatoes, and the especially alluring feature of all-day breakfast.

I would be lying if I didn’t say that I’ve had a Waddick’s breakfast sandwich every morning for the last month – and not one part of me regrets it! They are absolutely life-changing, and coupled with Waddick’s myriad of coffee flavor options (including iced coffee), the restaurant really can’t be beaten.

Cafe de Grasta – Grace Hall

Located on the north end of campus in Grace Hall, Cafe de Grasta is home to some of the best sandwich wraps on campus. Though not the most conveniently located, Cafe de Grasta’s menu offerings make the walk worthwhile. In addition to the featured lunch specials, the cafe offers a wrap bar that allows you to create your own chicken or veggie wrap with a wide variety of wrap, sauce, and vegetable options. Not only are these wraps delicious, but their size is really the biggest surprise. These hearty wraps will keep you full all day long, and still keep you coming back for more.

Decio Cafe – Decio Hall

Decio Cafe’s claim to fame is its amazing power protein bowls. These delicious bowls are made for the athlete in us all, its protein punch giving you the strength to get through even the toughest days. Decio Hall offers a great amount of seating surrounded by large windows and poster-covered walls. This calm and creative area is perfect for a relaxing lunch or a midday study break. The building is conveniently located between the library and the stadium, making it the perfect stop on the way to class or before a big day of studying.

Hopefully, these restaurant picks bring a little light into your day and a lot of happiness to your stomach. Though we don’t have the most variety in the world, one of the best things about Notre Dame is that there’s always something new to love and discover. So, don’t be afraid to try something new, take a different path to class, and stop by and try some of these good eats.
