The arrival of springtime doesn’t necessarily mean you need to stop working out indoors and embrace the warmer weather. While running to the Baha’i and back may work for some, some of us would rather not be seen panting our way down sidewalks every afternoon. Fortunately, Evanston offers a plethora of workout studio options, many of which offer discounts to students with a Wildcard present. Below are my five favorite places to workout that give results without breaking your budget.

1.   Pure Barre 910 Church St. Evanston, IL, 60201

My personal favorite, Pure Barre offers a workout experience for people of truly all levels of experience. Newcomers are welcomed enthusiastically, and the staff makes a point to learn every visitor’s name after just one class.  You receive a full body workout that focuses primarily on hips, thighs, seat, abdominals and arms.

2.   Down Dog Hot Yoga 1508 Sherman Ave. Evanston, IL, 60201

After one class, you will most likely leave looking like you stepped out of the shower. Fortunately, the sweaty look is accompanied by the most gratifying and detoxifying feeling that makes you feel light and flexible for days after. Besides feeling great, you also burn 500-1,000 calories per session, meaning you’ll look great too.

4.   Evanston Athletic Club 1723 Benson Ave. Evanston, IL, 60201

Though not much different than a standard workout facility, EAC is better than on-campus gyms, with high-tech workout machines and a myriad of group fitness classes, including boot camp, Pilates, and kickboxing.
