Procrastinate for less than 5 minutes!

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northwestern chapter.

We’ve all faced that big midterm dilemma when you realize there are just not enough hours in the day to finish up all of your work. For those looking to make their inevitable study breaks speedy, take a look at these tips for a fast escape from long library nights.

Call your parents

Actually remembering to do this often can be tough, so a study break is an awesome chance to set aside time to talk to your folks. Plus, if you do need to cut the conversation short, “gotta go study, mom!” is actually applicable in this scenario.

Make a to-do list

Although this may seem like even more work than you intended, setting aside time to reorganize your tasks on one sheet of paper will make your workload seem a lot less daunting. Plus, you’ll have the added bonus of getting to check things off your list!

Go on a walk

Getting up and strolling around the library, dorm, or wherever you happen to be studying (dining hall?!) will help you get your blood flowing and your muscles moving. Even just 5 minutes of movement will leave you feeling refreshed.

Take a buzzfeed quiz

Ever wondered what Will Ferrell movie you are? Or what you should be watching on Netflix this month? No better time to find out!

Google pictures of baby animals

Now, you have to be a little more careful with this one, because it’s super easy to get carried away. But if you just type “cute baby animals” into your Google search bar, you’ll find yourself among the most adorable photos that will make you completely forget about school.

Since you probably just took a break to read this article, test out one of these five things after you’ve gotten sick of drawing graphs or writing a midterm paper!
