Thanksgiving is right around the corner, which means you’ll be spending quality time with your family and/or friends, taking a break from school and feasting on some good food. Fashion may not be the first thing on your mind this season, but we’re here to give you some ideas on looking fabulous for every part of the break.

1.      Lounging Around

An oversized cable knit sweater paired with comfy leggings is a fail-proof outfit for those days when you’re cuddling up on your coach and watching your favorite holiday movie over a cup of hot chocolate. For this Thanksgiving, spice up the classic ensemble with some edgier prints or textures added to your leggings. A pair of velvet leggings with stud details all over will add a romantic spark to your soft heather grey chunky sweater, while a pair of paisley-printed ones would add sophistication to your basic cream-hued knit. Simply add a statement pendant necklace and slip on some furry moccasins to complete this no-brainer outfit making you look effortlessly chic.

2.      Downtown Shopping Spree

Winter chic is all about adding a hint of edge to an otherwise classic outfit. Wearing cream or off-white pieces with black is the perfect way to channel an angelic look when you’re on a shopping trip downtown with your girlfriends. You want to be comfortable enough to try on some clothes here and there, but also look picture-perfect. Look for a cream sweater with embellishments near the neckline, or invest in a vintage-inspired detachable collar to add on to any sweater you already own. Leather leggings will add the perfect amount of structure and edge to your look. Slip on a sleek pair of black booties, add on filigree earrings to show off this winter’s baroque trend and top it all off with a cute cape coat.

3.      Family Feast

If you’re having a fancy meal with your family this Thanksgiving, you don’t have to wear a skin-tight dressy top and feel uncomfortable in front of all that food- neither do you have to resort to frumpy tops in order to hide that after-feast stomach. There’s a happy medium that will make you look completely sophisticated, while still giving you space to eat as much as you want: the peplum top. Not only is the trendy fit-and-flare cut flattering for most body types, but the bottom flare of the peplum magically hides most of the abdominal area, disguising any  lumps you’d be self-conscious of if you were to be in a second-skin, curve-hugging dress. How should you rock the peplum trend? Try pairing it with some mid-rise skinny jeans with some stretch to them, or simply put on your bandage skirt to accentuate your figure even more. Adding a statement necklace to a peplum top with a high neckline adds instant glam- and that’s all the jewelry you’ll need for the night. If you want even more va-va-voom, rock some glitter booties and you’ll have an ensemble that’ll surely earn the approval of all your relatives.

4.      Formal Night Out

If you’re going out to a party this Thanksgiving and you’re looking for a no-fuss outfit to make you stand out from the crowd, velvet is your answer. Whether it’s slipping on a velvet mini dress or pairing a demure velvet top with a matching velvet skater skirt, the silky-smooth material will make you regal and fun at the same time. All you need to complete the outfit are some patterned tights, statement chandelier earrings and sky-high black pumps.
