#OOTD: First Day of School Edition

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northwestern chapter.

Remember the crazy nervous energy before the first day of high school? Oh, to be young. The first day of school may have lost some of its former glory but the start of a new school year will always possess some magic. While no one’s expecting you to have a Mia Thermopolis-esque makeover…

…it can’t hurt to dress up just a wee bit more than usual, even if it’s only for the mood boost. Here’s some outfit inspo before we inevitably backslide into our typical Week 7 leggings and sweatshirt routine.

Look #1

Nothing says “First Day of School!!!” like a classic school girl look. A glossy, bright bag will keep you from looking like an overgrown (and very lost) fifth grader.

Look #2

If white after Labor Day is wrong, we don’t want to be right. We love the texture and femininity of sequins for daytime, and the splash of leopard breaks up solid tones.  Just don’t forget the splash stick with your latte. This outfit is just begging for a coffee stain.

Look #3

It may not technically be fall, but we won’t judge you for breaking out the vest and boots on day one. We love deep colors for autumn, especially in the form of Hunters and J.Crew.

Look #4

You already have a chambray shirt and black pants. Why not let them join forces for the perfect casual/edgy/glam perfection? Plus, September is the month for this cutout bootie – chilly enough for a boot but not cold enough to require a closed toe. The structured bag adds just the right dose of glamour to finish off the look.

Look #5

All right, so you’re already craving the sweatshirt and leggings routine. It’s a classic! And no one does leggings like you, right? Right. A unique, swingy sweatshirt is less gym rat, more off-duty model, and the sunglasses will hide any lack of effort in the eye makeup department. Add a final slick of this punchy YSL lipstick and no one will know you rolled out of bed 15 minutes ago. We’ve got you covered.
