How are you involved in Dance Marathon?

This year, I am involved with Dance Marathon as the NUDM Public Relations Co-Chair. My co-chair Ross and I are in charge of working with both campus and external media sources to publicize the event, raise awareness for our beneficiaries, and rally our campus around the organization in engaging, creative ways.

What is your favorite part of DM?

My favorite part of NUDM is that it continually challenges me: whether it means I go the extra step to learn more about causes, raise that extra dollar, or can that extra hour, NUDM pushes this student body to give the most that they can. Even if you cannot give money, NUDM allows people to participate by giving time, energy and love to our beneficiaries. NUDM is what you make it: it is both an individual and community endeavor all at once, which is a very special part of the organization.

What is your number one tip for raising money?

My number one tip for raising money is tapping into an old skill! My roommate last year painted nails for small donations, my friend this year is giving back massages, and one of my committee members is knitting ear-warmers. It is this constant commitment and creative determination towards helping others that continues to inspire me. Everyone has something to offer. That’s what keeps this fundraising journey exciting, although it is definitely tough. This year we expanded our Mentorship program to help people brainstorm fundraisers that work for them.

If you had 3 songs to dance to for all 30 hours, what would they be?

1) Here Comes the Sun (THE SUNRISE IS AMAZING AND MAGICAL!)
2) Anything by Beyonce, because, Beyonce.
3) Any Motown. I hang out with my parents too much.

What else are you involved in on campus?

At Northwestern I have been involved in Peer Health Exchange, Greek Life, Spoon and Challah for Hunger.
