Enough Coachella! 5 More Music Festivals to See

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northwestern chapter.

Coachella-hype has grown to exceed the boundaries of its Indio, California festival grounds on an immense level. But let it be known that ‘Chella is not the be-all-end-all of U.S.A. music festivals. Across the country, plenty of other music-gatherings exist with line-ups making the tickets well-worth their cost. Here’s a guide to five festivals that will be happening throughout the summer and fall of 2018.

BottleRock, May 25-27

Napa Valley, California

BottleRock is a relatively new festival that will definitely appeal to those with a more alternative taste in music. This Memorial Day Weekend, be sure to check out The Killers, Bleachers and Muse as they hit the stage in Napa Valley, California. The food trucks and wine tastings offered throughout the days are yet another reason to make the trip!

Gov Ball June 1-3 Randall’s Island, New York

Governors Ball (or Gov Ball) is self-dubbed as “NYC’s most established megafest,” taking place on Randall’s Island during the first weekend in June. With Eminem, Jack White and Travis Scott headlining, this is an amazing opportunity to listen to great music in New York while getting out of the busy downtown scene.

Bonnaroo June 7-10 Manchester, Tennesse

If you’re free mid-June, the place to be is Manchester, Tennessee for Bonnaroo 2018. Festival-goers can camp out for the weekend, enjoying art, yoga and, of course, some spectacular music. Bands this year include Dua Lipa, Kaskade, Khalid and Muse.

Lollapalooza August 2-5 Chicago, Illinois

Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival started in 1991 and is still going strong 27 years later. From August 2-5, come experience The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Arctic Monkeys and Tyler, the Creator in the Windy City. The event promises an assortment of Chicago’s best food and a beautiful location in Grant Park.

Austin City Limits (dates TBD) Austin, Texas

Still not over your festival craving in the fall? Although dates have not been officially announced, Austin City Limits Music Festival in Texas typically occurs during the first weekends of October, boasting line-ups of multi-genre artists, the Austin Eats food court and an art space. In 2017, Jay-Z, Chance the Rapper and the Red Hot Chili Peppers took the stage, so you can only imagine who will be in attendance this year.
