Recently, coconut oil has taken the world by storm as a fresh new trend and a fix all. Here are some of the many ways that you can incorporate coconut oil into your daily life.

  1. As a make-up remover

It seems that most people have their own way of removing makeup; some double cleanse and some just use water the morning after when they forgot to remove it the night before. Whether or not your skin routine is high maintenance, coconut oil can be an easy addition. First, take a generous amount of coconut oil and warm it up until it’s completely liquid. Then rub it on your face like a normal cleanser, making sure to rub the area around your eyes too. After it is clear that the coconut oil has been dispersed, take a tissue or towel and rub off the coconut oil. If there are spots missed, go ahead and repeat the process.

Since coconut oil is an oil, it breaks down makeup and makes it easier to wipe right off, so next time you’re taking off your make-up try some coconut oil!

2. As a hair mask!

Coconut oil helps to soften hair and give some life back to dead ends. Just take a good bit of coconut oil and warm it up. Once completely liquid, put it on the ends of hair up to root, but not touching the root. Leave on for about 20 minutes and then rinse out. Doing this once a week can help make healthy, shining hair.

3. For some extra hydration on the face!

There is much controversy about putting coconut oil on the face, but I have found that when I need a little extra boost of moisture, adding it to my face cream helps my skin a lot. If you have acne prone skin, only add a couple of drops to your face moisturizer, or put a layer on and leave it for a couple of minutes before wiping off and adding normal moisturizer. This is a great trick for the dry winter air!

4. As a body moisturizer

On your body a little coconut oil goes a long way! Coconut oil makes skin soft and supple and can be much cheaper than other lotions that don’t seem to last. But be careful, if you add too much then your legs will feel gross and slippery all day.

5. To help with razor burn

It seems that everyone gets razor burn now and again and it really hurts sometimes, especially in the bikini region. The best way to help razor burn is to moisturize the area, and coconut oil is the way to go. Since it isn’t scented and it is natural, it can help moisturize the area and relieve the burning pain almost immediately without the harsh chemicals that can damage the sensitive area.

I hope you found some new ways to incorporate coconut oil into your life; now go buy a new jar of it!
