Cook dinner together.
Instead of going out to an overpriced dinner with all of the other couples, choose some recipes you would both like to try and try cooking together. It is much more intimate, you will have a lot more fun, and you will feel so accomplished in the end for working as a team. Don’t worry if you aren’t the best cook – if trying to make “Herb Encrusted Lamb Chops” doesn’t exactly go as planned, then you can always order a heart-shaped pizza from Dominos.

Go to a museum.
All of February, the MFA is having special Valentine’s Day events and exhibits. On February 13th, the museum is having an “Arts + Hearts” party featuring Meredith Goldstein, who writes Boston Globe’s “Love Letters” column, as a guest. There will also be food. http://www.mfa.org/programs/special-event/arts-hearts

Have a movie night… but don’t watch 50 Shades of Grey like everyone else will probably be doing.
Choose a few movies that you have never seen, get some candy, grab a ton of fuzzy blankets and pillows, and pop your own popcorn for a movie night in. You can talk and cuddle as much as you want.

Do something active.
It may be too cold to go hiking, but with places like Metro Rock and Sky Zone, there are a number of easy ways to have a fun, sporty date.

See a show.
There are so many cool events going on in Boston for Valentine’s Day. On Friday the 13th, the Coolidge Corner Theatre is hosting “Mortified,” a comedy show in which people read from their old teenage diaries about past crushes and dating disasters. On Valentine’s Day, Improv Asylum has “Love and Other Gateway Drugs.”
