*SPOILERS* 12 Things to Look Forward to in the Next Divergent Movie: Allegiant

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Northeastern chapter.

On March 18th, this Friday, the highly anticipated last movie of the Divergent trilogy will be released to theaters everywhere.  At least to me the release is highly anticipated; however, I found in my time as a Divergent fanatic that many seem to dismiss Divergent as a series that is not worth their time.  “It’s no Hunger Games after all”. Here is where I beg to differ. I agree the Divergent series is not as good as The Hunger Games trilogy, but Divergent dares to go where many books of the same sort would never go.  Spoiler: In the third and final book, Veronica Roth kills off the main character, Tris.  This is a rarity when it comes to young-adult novels.  Authors are usually nowhere near daring enough to kill off main characters.  And despite the fact that I would have loved to see Tris and Four run off into the sunset together, if you too are a true Divergent fan, you would understand that this unfairytale-like ending is the perfect ending to this trilogy.  Throughout the entire series Tris risks her life to save others, so it makes utter sense that in the end she dies to save others, even her traitor brother.

So here are the top eleven things that I am looking forward to in the next Divergent movie, Allegiant.

1.  I am excited to see how the world beyond the wall is depicted in the new film.  The first two movies did an amazing job depicting how the world was divided into factions.  The visual effects were truly stunning and very believable.

2. Shailene Woodley has become a role model to girls everywhere.  She is at the head of many feminist movements around the country.  I cannot wait to see how she incorporates that world into Divergent and inspires others throughout the movie.

3. Theo James.  No words necessary.

4. Ansel Elgort.  Enough said.

5. Miles Teller….

Warning: Gif technically not from Divergent but it’s so cute I couldn’t resist

6.In the books and previous movies it is very clear that Tris and Four are deeply in love with each other, however, in the last book it is never clearly stated if they have sex or not.  It is rumored to be that in the last movie the audience finds out the truth of what happened.

8. In the book when they learn the truth about their society at the Genetic Welfare Bureau, it was a bit confusing how it was explained.  I am excited to see how the film explains the truth about the society with visual images to help explain the truth.

9. This is the first of the three books that is told from both Tris and Four’s perspective, I can’t wait to see how this is depicted in the movie as the first two movies were pretty much all about Tris.

10.  One of my favorite moments from the book was when Caleb offers to go on the suicide mission to get the serum that will wipe the Bureau’s memories.  Caleb offers to do this in an attempt to gain Tris’s forgiveness because he feels bad for previously fighting against her with Erudite. I cannot wait to see the amazing connection between Ansel and Shailene, that we all know from The Fault in our Stars.

11.  After Tris dies, Four wants to take the memory serum and erase the pain that her memory brings to him.  But, Christina swoops in and stops him because she knows that Tris would have wanted him to remember her. Hopefully this scene will be as heart-wrenching as it is in the book.

12.  And finally I want to see if they keep the final scene where Four spreads Tris’s ashes as he faces his fear of heights to zipline down the Hancock Tower, one of Tris’ fondest memories.

Look for it in theaters starting March 18th,
