Over the weekend, Improv Asylum made a visit to Northeastern’s afterHOURS to give students a customized show! Lots of students decided to take a break from studying on Saturday to attend the event.
The show opened with NU & Improv’d, the Northeastern improv comedy club. This group includes nine very talented students: Anton Monteleone, Billy Galante, Brian Homes, Brianna Sedor, Clare Cashen, Ethan Parets, Joe Borg, Rachel van Heteren, and Suzie Kim. They were really funny and did a great job warming up the audience. My personal favorite was the Bachelorette skit.
Improv Asylum members Vicki Hanes, Alex Kagy (an NU alum!), Ryan McFarland, and Ceara O’Sullivan then came out on the stage to do a personalized show for NU. During the show, they poked fun at the unpredictable and often frustrating Green Line, how NU is better than BC, the co-op cycle, and the lack of space for club meetings on campus. At the end, the four were joined NU & Improv’d, to do a dual show altogether.
Overall, the event was extremely funny and a great way to blow off steam before a grueling week of finals. If you enjoyed the show, check out Improv Asylum’s website to see when their shows are playing. They are located in the North End and have student discounts so you can go with a bunch of friends. Some of their shows include “Raunch”, “Victoria’s Secret Drinking Problem”, and “The Show Against Humanity” based on Cards Against Humanity.
