This is Jade Chang’s first novel and it truly is hilarious. It tells the story of a wealthy but fractured Chinese immigrant family that had it all, only to lose every last cent, and the subsequent road trip they take across America that ends up bringing them all back together. Critics have called it outrageously funny, charming, and a true testament to what it means to belong in America.
Verdict: We won’t spoil it for you, but we definitely recommend it! It’s the perfect light read for the holiday break and you’ll enjoy the breath of fresh air before the spring semester begins!
