Lately Korean trends have been all over Facebook, Korean makeup, K-Pop groups, Korean dramas, Korean Snacks, Korean BBQ, etc. but one of the most popular trends is the famous Korean beauty routine. If you, like me, enjoy watching Korean dramas then you have noticed that everyone has amazing glowing healthy skin, I mean babies are probably also jealous of their perfect skin, that’s how good their skin looks. So naturally I decided to try this Korean Beauty Routine and honestly you should too because who doesn’t want perfect skin? Here is how it goes:

  • Step One: Makeup Removal

This step is pretty self-explanatory; you have to take off your makeup before doing anything else otherwise you won’t have a proper clean up. I recommend using Symphony Beauty Cleansing Wipes, Collagen + Vitamin C they have a great aroma, collagen and they leave your face clean and soft.

  • Step Two: Oil Cleanser

I know, it sounds weird to clean your face with oil, I mean you are trying to get rid of the oil, not add more oil right? Well, believe it or not oil cleansers are great because they really get rid of all the dirt the makeup removal didn’t get and it doesn’t leave your skin super dry! I use The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Light Cleansing Oil.

  • Step Three: Face Wash

Because two cleanses aren’t enough! For this step I use the Black Bean Cleansing Foam. I apply it to my hand and massage my face in circular motions, then rinse with warm water.

  • Step Four: Exfoliator 

Exfoliating is my favorite part of this whole routine because your face feels so soft after you rinse it off, it’s like your skin was born again. For this step I use Skinfood Black Sugar Mask not only it smells nice it also leave your skin glowing! It’s important to mention that this step is only repeated twice a week, no more than that or your skin will burn!! 

  • Step Five: Face Mask

Face Masks are kind of creepy but very useful!  I recommend using them at night because that way your skin will absorb even more the serum and once a week is more than enough. Because I don’t like going every week to buy new face masks I have them monthly delivered to my house with FaceTory, not only are they cheap and great quality but they also come all the way from Korea, which sometimes might be hard to find in the States if you live in a small town. 

  • Step Six: Toner

The toner is a pretty important part of the routine because it will hydrate your skin, tighten it and even your skin tone. I recommend using Skinfood Peach Sake Toner because as the name says it smells like peach and who doesn’t want this? Apply a small amount of toner in the palm of your hand and apply it in a circular motion, it’s all about that circular motion in this routine.

  • Step Seven: Essence 

Essence is called the “soul and heart” of the Korean Beauty Routine. The essence leaves your skin smooth and glowing every time, I like using Secretkey Starting Treatment Essence because it has no chemicals in it and that is just amazing, healthy skin= no chemicals. For the essence I pour it in a spray bottle and spray my face, then let it sit there until your face is dry.

  • Step Eight: Serum

Serum is another important part of the routine since it reduces the size of the pores making it harder for dirt and bacteria to get in, Skinfood Peach Sake Serum has also that sweet peach smell and has no oily sensation, which is nice. Apply a small amount of the serum in your palm and then distribute in your face with circular motions.

  • Step Nine: Eye Cream

After all these years of late night study sessions we all have tired eyes and the perfect solution to those tired eyes is the eye cream! For night I use Skinfood Black Rasperry Eye Cream, now it may have a bit of a weird smell at first but it leaves your eyes feeling so fresh and renewed that I love it. For day I use Tonymoly Panda’s Dream Brightening Eye Base not only does it have an adorable package it also makes my eyes look bright every morning! 

  • Step Ten: Emulsion

Emulsion is what we know as moisturizer, but the only difference is that emulsion is water based so it doesn’t leave your skin greasy. Since I love to smell like peach I use Skinfood Peach Sake Emulsion. Apply a small amount of emulsion in your palm and then apply it to your face in circular motion.

  • Step Eleven: Sleep Pack/Mask

Sleep Packs are great because they work while you are sleeping and when you wake up you have a healthy looking skin. Use the sleep packs only at night time and three times a week, otherwise you will start breaking out! I like to use Tonymoly Banana Sleep Pack because it smells like banana candy and it comes in a banana shaped package! 

  • Step Twelve: Sunscreen

Sunscreen is super important because this helps you reduce the chances of getting skin cancer and the appearance of dark spots. I like to use Biore UV Water Base Sunscreen because it is water base and doesn’t leave my skin feeling greasy or smelling like I just went to the pool. If you are not into liquid sunscreen for your face because you’re afraid it will mess up your makeup then you can try this Holika Holika Mild Sun Cushion, which is a cushion that will apply sunscreen to your face and leave your makeup intact. 

Remember to do steps 1,2,3,6,7,8, 9, 10 and 12 in the morning and steps 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 and 11 at night! I know it sounds like a whole lot of effort to put into this and a lot of money but trust me it is so worth it, and most of the products will last for at least 6 months!! If you are not 100% convinced you want to try the whole routine pick just some of the products and see how you feel about them, I did this and ended getting all twelve products because this routine works wonders!
