College Fashion Week 2017

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at New Paltz chapter.

This past weekend I had the wonderful experience of going to Her Campus College Fashion Week in NYC. It was such an awesome event, and I got to meet a lot of really sweet and passionate journalists and writers.  I also had the opportunity to view a fantastic fashion show filled with the hottest styles for collegiates at reasonable prices. Here was an overview of my night!

When we first arrived at the Met West building, we were placed in a line wrapped around the entire building! It took forever to get in, but I got to meet a group of inspiring college girls and we really hit it off! Once we all filed inside, there was a lot of things to do, but my friend and I went to the Ulta Beauty Table first. It was filled with a ton of goodies, and Ulta was doing free hair and makeup for anyone who wanted, which was amazing.

My personal favorite, though, was the Bed Head section, where a team of specialists would give you a prescription for your hair and offer you products to use. I got a dry shampoo and a curl oil! This was followed by the opportunity to receive a drawing of yourself, completely free. I definitely took advantage of this and was utterly speechless when it came out.

Once we had walked around to all of the really fun and unique sponsor tables, it was time for the fashion show to start! Primark was the clothing sponsor for College Fashion Week, so the first show consisted entirely of models wearing the best of Primark. Here were some of my favorite looks:

After this was the Avec Les Filles show, filled with the perfect moto designs for fall. These were great looks, with colors that were sure to inspire the inner rocker in you! Then came the Chaser show, which was more of a basic take on clothing, although the looks were anything but basic. They were versatile and trendy, ideal for any collegiate looking to change up her style!

Vici was the final show, and my personal favorite of the night. The looks were perfect for a day out, or even traveling on the weekend. The designer was a fan of slits in the dresses, which made them extremely sexy and fun. One of my favorite looks from this show is pictured below.

And just like that, College Fashion Week 2017 was over. I gathered my belongings and left feeling inspired and invigorated, ready for the coming year of new fashion and successful women. This event was such a great opportunity, and I can’t wait to make it back again next year. Plus, the goodie bags were incredible! Her Campus and the sponsors of this years College Fashion Week definitely didn’t hold back.
