Listen up, Gals. Trump’s presidency is not the end of the world. Yes, our future president is not tolerant of the LGBT community, and is xenophobic, racist and sexist… but that does not change the fact that our federal government has a huge separation of power. One of the worst problems with our government may just save the day for us. Gridlocking- the refusal of the two parties to pass any legislation (usually because it leans towards one party’s beliefs) will keep Trump from following through on all of his outlandish promises, like sending immigrants back to their countries, or building a wall between the U.S. and Mexico… I trust that the Democrats and Republicans in Congress and the House of Representatives will not let Trump’s legislation through without a fight.

Yes, we may take a few steps back progressively, but our voices be heard. We are the future of this country. We now have the responsibility to undo the damage Donald Trump has done, and might do. We need to get involved in politics, because we learned what can happen if we don’t. We need to vote in the primaries, and reach out to our senators to voice our opinions on the issues that matter to us. We need to make the next election about our generation. We are the future, and we need to start acting like it. There are many organizations out there that want to speak for the youth of this country. Please get involved to prove to our politicians that we are a demographic to reach out to. Below are some options for organizations, that are really easy to join, and need members to become more reputable. Once you enter your email address, you’ll be part of the revolution, and receive emails from the leaders with petitions you can sign that directly affect our political culture.

Hillary Clinton touched on this issue in her concession speech. She wants us to become active and promote change for the future.

“We’ve spent a year and a half bringing together millions of people from every corner of our country to say with one voice that we believe that the American dream is big enough for everyone—for people of all races, and religions, for men and women, for immigrants, for LGBT people, and people with disabilities. For everyone. So now, our responsibility as citizens is to keep doing our part to build that better, stronger, fairer America we seek. And I know you will.”

We are definitely divided as a country, not more than ever… but love will overcome. I am certain we will come together in the future and make sure we are represented by a worthy candidate.

This loss hurts, but please never stop believing that fighting for what’s right is worth it….You are powerful and deserving of every opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”
