Salute to the Brave Ones

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCSU chapter.
Salute to the brave onesSalute to the brave ones

Ever have that one random guy come up to you and tell you that you were pretty? Have you
ever witnessed a shy girl go up to a guy and invite him to lunch with her? Were you ever that person?

There are some things that people find comfort in doing, and if anyone is like me, going in cold

to chat with some random person isn’t one of them! Yet still, despite the fear of rejection and
potentially awkward moments, we still find ourselves taking that occasional risk. It seems to be
something about that rush of overcoming that initial fear of starting a conversation that makes it all
worthwhile (for better or worse of course).

So that all bring me to my main point: It’s not every day that people get the courage to break
the mold and dare to extend their social circle, and I don’t want all of their efforts to go in vain. So to all
of those brave enough to do so, and all of those that will do so in the near future, I salute you. I salute
you not just for your bravery, but also for all of the interesting stories and flattered smiles that you have
potentially given someone who just moments ago did not know that you even existed.

Keep up the good work as your random acts may inspire others to do the same.
