Her Voice: Skeptical

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at NCSU chapter.

Skeptical
by Kristie Demers

Two sides to everything,
More like twenty-five.
“be everything you can be”
What’s that supposed to mean?

Be famous and make more money
So the Paparazzi assemble.
Make a name for yourself
On the stars down in Hollywood square.

Two ways to success; fame or money.
More like twenty-five.

Holding a door,
Recycling a bottle,
A teacher giving a student hope,
Talking a friend out of their woes,

Twenty-one more ways to be everything you can.
Like rescuing a child from a broken home,
Paying a visit to a forgotten friend,
Sending a rose to your widowed grandmother
Or inviting that straggler in from the cold.

Countless ways to change the world.
Success. Fame. Money;
Can’t measure the person you are.
Two sides to everything, more like twenty-five.
