Water We Take For Granted

When it comes to water, we all use it every day in some form, from basic routines such as washing the dishes to daily pampering like washing your face. Let’s be honest, water is important in our lives, but it’s a luxury we often take for granted, including for some of our favorite habits which makes us all feel amazing:

  1. Baths Being able to clean your body is a basic human need. We take showers as a faster way to clean our bodies, but taking a bath is a luxury. You get to sit in warm water and just relax from whatever your day may have entailed before cleaning off the dirt from the environment around you.

Did you know that many people around the world don’t have access to sanitized facilities?

2.4 billion people are without adequate toilets or sinks. Imagine not having a functioning toilet? To many of us that’s insane. So, imagine not having a sanitized area to even shower or bathe. This leaves many people unable to clean themselves properly which can lead to the spread of disease.

  2. Fruit Infused Water

Water is a necessity for all of the human race. Our body is made up of a high percentage of water, which means without water we wouldn’t be able to function the way we do. Not only do we have water to drink on a day to day, we can customize our water by adding fruit to get a new flavor for your taste buds. The great part is a lot of different fruits mixed in with your beverage aids in many different things. For example, lemon water is good for digestion which is why a lot of people may request water with lemon at a restaurant.

Did you know that there are still 663 million people who lack clean water to drink?

That’s 1 in 10 people! This consists of many people who are in poor or rural areas. There is still a huge population of people in the world who don’t have a source of improved drinking water. In fact, women in developing countries spend on average 25% of their time collecting water for their families

  3. Fresh Manicure/Pedicure

Who doesn’t love having a good manicure or pedicure every now and then? You can either do it at home or go to a professional salon. The best part is when they put a nice hot steamy towel over your hands or legs and soak your feet in warm water to help remove dirt and dead skin. It leaves your hands and feet looking as smooth as ever.

Did you know that some facilities around the world don’t even have clean water to wash their hands?

Every day, 1,000 children die from diseases caused by unsafe water or inadequate sanitation. That means they don’t even get the basic clean water to properly sanitize their hands and ensure cleanliness. Meanwhile, we have the chance to do so every day.

Maybe after reading this, you may be feeling very fortunate to live in a place where you can have access to clean water for all your basic routines. You may be questioning ‘What can I do to help?’

Giorgio Armani Fragrances and UNICEF are teaming up for their annual charity partnership for the campaign, Acqua for Life, which helps raise funds to ensure that there is equal access to clean water everywhere and to help as many people as possible. The Acqua For Life campaign has raised $3.43M since 2010 to help support the UNICEF Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Programs (WASH). This is enough funding to help provide over 83 million days of clean, safe water for children in need.

There are three major ways to help:

  • Share your support on your social platforms by using the #AcquaForLife hashtag and don’t forget to tag @ArmaniBeauty + @UNICEFUSA
  • You can purchase the #AcquaForLife bracelet which will help UNICEF provide 1 month of clean water to 1 child. How amazing is that? 1 month of clean water can make all the difference. Plus, you’ll be able to rock your bracelet and talk about it to all your friends.
  • Purchase Acqua di Gio or Acqua di Gioia this month which will help UNICEF provide 4 months of clean water to a child in need. Think about it, you can rock a beautiful scent on the daily and also know you helped a child get clean water.

Remember, we all have a connection to water. Use the #WaterIs hashtag and share your personalized story. Show why water is important even beyond beauty routines.

Let’s make a change and help others achieve access to clean water to hopefully one day enjoy some basic beauty rituals of their own.
