Whether you met each other while in school or followed each other to college, going to the same school as your significant other seems like the ideal situation. You don’t have to do the long distance and relationship through facetime. You get to see them every day, basically whenever you want but, there are some things you should remember when in this kind of relationship. Here are some tips on how to keep a healthy relationship while at the same college as your boyfriend or girlfriend.

  • REMEMBER TO HAVE “ME” TIME

You may get wrapped up in spending so much time with your significant other that you forget about “me” time. If you spend too much time with each other there can be a strain on your relationship. So kick it back some nights and watch some Netflix, do a face mask and keep in touch with your friends from home.

  • HAVE TIME FOR YOUR FRIENDS

A big part of college is meeting new friends that you didn’t have before. It is important that when you have a SO in college that you don’t forget about the people that are always there for you. Have girl/guy nights and go out with your friends or have a movie night.

  • DON’T BLOW AWAY YOUR STUDIES

The most important part of college is, of course, school. You are paying for an education so don’t forget about that when you decide to hang out with your SO all day. If you still want to hang out, do homework and study together. Stay focused on your future. Do all of your assignments on time and don’t use the excuse that you were too busy with your SO.

  • GO ON DATES

Spice things up and go on dates. It is so hard being trapped in the dorms all day. Find a way off campus to enjoy some time just the two of you. Nothing about being in a dorm is romantic so make some memories outside of the stuffy dorm rooms.

  • MAKE DECISIONS FOR YOURSELF

Take amazing opportunities for yourself. If you get a chance to study abroad or have an internship or a study that prevents you from spending a lot of time with your SO don’t say no.  You are having once in a lifetime opportunities and don’t let your relationship hold you back. Think of yourself first when it comes to your future and your career.

  • BE SUCCESSFUL TOGETHER

The best thing you can do is hype your partner up in tough times in college. Work hard and achieve your goals together.
