What is your hometown like?

I grew up in Bronx, NY. When I’m home one of my favorite things to do is meet up with my best friends.  We either see a movie or go out to eat. We really like to eat. Our favorite place to eat is probably at this cafe downtown called The Coffee Shop, they have banging mac & cheese. Last summer we found out that they took that off their menu though.

What is your favorite home cooked meal? Can you make it?

I have way too many, but if you gave me the receipe I probably could make it! However if you want a specific home cooked meal it’d be Ackee & Saltfish with fried plantain. I could make that dish, however, I don’t think I could make it like my mom. She’s really the best cook I know. Whenever I go home it’s a special treat for me!

What do you like to do outside of academic work?

Outside my academic work I am a board member of MHACASA (Mount Holyoke African & Caribbean Student Association).

Why did you become a physics major?

My high school teacher, made physics fun and because of her passion for the subject I became really interested in the subject.  I also became a physics major because it’s intellectually stimulating, I love a challenge, and I’ve learned to love its versatility.

Why did you become a theatre major?

I’ve always been an outgoing person, therefore it was a no brainer that I would be a theatre major, I also love the attention that comes with theater!

Who is your biggest inspiration? Why?

My mom is my biggest inspiration.  She has been my support system my whole life. She sees the potential in me that I fail to see in myself.  She knows what I can achieve and always wants the best for me.

What is the best and worst thing that happened to you this week? Why?

The best thing that happened this week was I had my first rehearsal for my first ever play at Mount Holyoke.  The worst thing that happened to me is that my roommate caught the flu. I have a 50/50 chance of catching it too!

Who’s your favourite band/artist?

I have too many! Right now my favorite artist is Big Sean.  I wish I could see him in concert, he is a really talented rapper.  My favorite song from him is “Play No Games“.

Where could we find you on a Friday night?

In my room, binge watching The Daily Show. Trevor Noah is probably the funniest comedian that I’ve watched thus far.  He dumbs down politics and constantly makes fun of everyday events.

What do you find people admire about you the most?

My personality, I usually am the most outgoing person and I can probably make you smile with a really great joke or my sarcastic remarks.

My name is Victoria and I am a singer/songwriter and physics enthusiast from Pleasantville, NY. I am a first year currently studying Music and Physics at Mount Holyoke College. I run for the Cross Country and Track team, and I am a big proponent of Halloween, Harry Potter, music, tea, and art.
