We recently caught up with first-year Lyssi Joseph on college, guilty pleasures and her newest favorite shows. You can usually find her studying in the dorms, dining with friends and drooling over Chris Pine.
Why did you choose Mount Holyoke?
Honestly, I chose it because I visited, loved the campus and they gave me a great scholarship package!
What’s your favorite study spot on campus?
My room- I don’t have to leave this building. Everything is pretty far from where I live, which is fairly inconvenient.
What’s your all-time favorite place to hangout?
Goodberry’s in North Carolina! They serve the best frozen custard known to man- it’s on the expensive side, but worth the trip every once in a while. The custard tastes just like ice cream, too.
What’s the weirdest comment you’ve heard at Mount Holyoke?
“When I see boys, I rub my nipples subconsciously.”
What’s your favorite place to shop?
Forever 21!
What’s your favorite article of clothing?
Leggings!
What are you looking forward to most this (spring) break?
SLEEPING. Oh, and catching up with TV shows.
Which shows are you most excited to watch?
I really wanna watch Fresh off the Boat! I’m also behind on Black-ish. Mostly shows that people are raving about.
What was your favorite film of 2014?
The Other Woman! It was so funny- Nicki Minaj’s butt looked fantastic as well.
What’s a film you’re looking forward to watching right now?
Love Actually!
Do you have any guilty pleasures?
Anything with sugar in it. One Direction, too.
What’s the best way to catch your eye at a party?
By not grinding immediately- initial face-to-face interaction is highly valued.

“Are you Nicki Minaj?”

Kind, supportive and genuine.

4 by One Direction. I adore them.

Gabrielle Union. She is everything.
What is your favorite city?
I have this irrational love of Austin, Texas. I’ve never been, but I’ve read a lot about it and really want to move there.
What do you love most about college?
I love the community! I’ve made so many friends here- generally, people are willing to help you out, talk and things like that. It doesn’t hurt that we have great dorms, too!
