18 Times the Friends Characters Showed What College Life is All About

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Mt Holyoke chapter.

I’m sure most of you have heard of the famous sitcom Friends that was on TV from 1994 to 2004. Although the show has been off the air for over ten years now, Chandler, Monica, Ross, Phoebe, Rachel, and Joey remain some of the most favorite and relatable characters of all time. That being said, here’s 18 times the characters of Friends perfectly depicted the tough life of being a college student:

1. When your professor asks if you’d like to be the first to present your project

Is that even a real question??

2. When all of your friends are in relationships and you’re sitting alone thinking

…but being able to eat ice cream and binge-watch Netflix on Friday nights isn’t so bad either.

3. When you stay up all night to finish writing an essay only to see the deadline has been pushed back two days

You couldn’t have told me before I typed all of this?

4. When you decide to take an 8:35 AM class and make this discovery

I couldn’t tell you what the lecture was about…sorry.

5. When there’s a pile of hair in the shower and you almost step on it

Is it so hard to pick it up?!

6. When you tell couples to stop making out in public and they glare at you

Some people are trying to get to class on time.

7. When you’re alone in life but know food will always be there for you

Fact: food never lets you down. Ever.

8. When you see they’ve got french fries in the dining hall

They’re not going to be there forever!

9. When your family calls and asks how you’re feeling after studying for finals

Hear that high-pitched tone in my voice? It means something.

10. When anyone asks what your plans are for after college and you’re like

I don’t even know what my plans are for this weekend.

11. When you say something embarrassing in class and everyone keeps laughing

You wouldn’t be laughing if it was you!

12. When your friend tries to take food from your plate

We’re close but not that close.

13. When you’re stuck in class and see other people outside the window relaxing

I want nothing more than to join you all in the fresh outdoors right now.

14. When you’re scrolling through your Facebook feed and see pictures of a party you weren’t invited to

If I’m not happy, there’s no way you’re allowed to be happy.

15. When you welcome freshmen to the school by saying the cold, hard, truth

In the words of Harry Potter: I must not tell lies.

16. When you see a spider dangling from the ceiling above your bed

GETAWAYGETAWAYNOW.

17. When your mom asks how you did on your last exam

You really don’t want to know, Mom.

18. And finally, when you graduate and realize that, despite all of the struggles along the way, college only lasts for four years

Wow, I guess time really does fly when you’re struggling to raise your GPA for four years.
