The Ultimate Michigan State Bucket List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

With a school as amazing as MSU, the list of things to do is endless. Here’s a few that should be at the top of your list:

1. Climb the steps of Beaumont Tower

Tours are given where you can even play the infamous bells.

2. Try every dairy store ice cream flavor

With 35 flavors in total, that’s a LOT of ice cream. But as we all know, #SpartansWill.

3. Order a #1 from Conrad’s

Preferably after midnight, along with some mac ‘n’ cheese bites.

4. Participate in the midnight scream

You’ll be amazed at how good it feels to let off a little steam. For those of you who actually go to bed early, watch out for when the noise simultaneously wakes you up and scares the life out of you.

5. Sit front row at a football and basketball game

MSU’s student sections are amazing. Even if you can’t make it in the front row, still attend as many sporting events as you can!

6. Walk through the botanical gardens

The gardens are exceptionally beautiful, especially during the warmer months. You can take a stroll through the garden’s walkway or even relax on one of the benches by the Red Cedar.

7. Go to a frat party

Kind of a right of passage, despite the fact that you’ll leave a hot, sweaty mess.

8. Paint the rock

One of MSU’s best traditions. With over a foot of paint, the rock is a landmark you’ll see almost every day you’re on campus. Find a group, grab some chairs and hang out for the night.

9. Swim in the Red Cedar

Maybe not the most hygienic thing you’ll ever do, but why not? Take a dip and check that one off of your list.

10. Bar crawl

Ricks (#STR), Harper’s, Dublin, PT’s, Landshark… you get the idea. All must-do’s before you graduate!

11. Tailgate

When you have such great teams to root for, tailgating is even more fun. Don’t be surprised if total strangers ask you to stop in, grab some food and play corn hole. Spartans, alumni included, are just plain awesome.

12.  Join an IM sport

The possibilities are endless. Grab a group of friends, and join anything from football to innertube water polo.

13. Celebrate in Cedar Village

Who knows, maybe you’ll get to witness a famous couch burning.

14. Join a club

There are hundreds upon hundreds of clubs at MSU. Find one you like, and stick with it. Despite the fact that it’s good for your resume, you’ll also get the chance to meet some amazing people.

15. Feed an MSU squirrel

These little guys are crazy. Not to mention, they pretty much have no boundaries. Don’t be surprised if one gets too close!

16. Set foot in every building on campus

I tried looking at a map to count how many there actually were, but once I passed 40, I gave up. This campus is HUGE. If you can do this, major props!

17. Get a picture with Sparty

Did you really go to MSU if you didn’t get a picture with Sparty?

18. Get a picture with the Spartan statue

Though most of us had this shot taken at AOP, it’s always fun to go back and get another. Try one every school year for an epic transformation Tuesday pic.

19. Get breakfast after a long night out

Sure, you could head to iHop, but if you head across the street to a little place called Coral Gables, you’ll find a Sunday breakfast buffet that will blow your mind. I’m serious people; for $12 you can get an unlimited amount of just about any breakfast food you can imagine. It’s a must-do.

20. Visit the capitol

We all might have gone in elementary school, but I bet you haven’t seen it since then. With something that important so close by, there’s no reason you shouldn’t stop by and check it out!

21. Get a bucket at Crunchy’s

Greasy burgers, tots and onion rings, what more could a college kid possibly want? Head over to Crunchy’s and order one of their famous buckets.

22. Eat at every dining hall

Totally doable, though you’ll find some are much better than others (*cough* Brody *cough*).
