Ten Movies to Cheer You Up on a Not So Cheerful Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at MSU chapter.

With Mother Nature playing the hot-then-cold game and the billowing wind accompanied by sudden showers, it seems a lot easier to just stay inside and feel gloomy that you’re staying inside.  However, any of the following movies are guaranteed to make you feel less down when you decide not to go out.

  1. Bridesmaids: The dress fitting scene will make you laugh over and over again, especially knowing you haven’t done anything that embarrassing…at least not on film.
  2. Pitch Perfect: Nothing brightens a day like movie with a character names Fat Amy and a bunch of catchy songs.
  3. The Dark Knight Rises: The joker is one of the most twisted, hilarious villains out there and watching Heath Ledger bring him to life will make you forget about the less than stellar day you are having. Plus Christian Bale…he doesn’t need an explanation.
  4. 10 Things I Hate About You: After watching The Dark Knight you are going to miss Heath Ledger, best to pop in the movie and swoon over him singing from the bleachers.
  5. Tangled: Nothing makes you feel better than realizing you aren’t stuck in a tower with a wicked witch pretending to be your mom.
  6. The Proposal: Sandra Bullock dancing with Betty White…you’re smiling already.
  7. Mean Girls: Nothing will make you feel better than watching this movie, there is no way you will make it all the way through without at least one person dropping in quoting the whole things.
  8. Elf: Something about gearing up for Christmas, and watching Will Ferrell run around in tights makes everything in the world seem right.
  9. Hitch: the sass of Will Smith and adorable awkwardness of Kevin James will leave you with a smile.
  10.  Pretty Woman: because even when the weather sucks and you have a mountain of work to do…at least you’re not a prostitute.
