The Roommate Book, by Becky Simpson, is a collection of flowcharts, quizzes and drawings that come together to make up an essential guide to sharing your room and life with another person. Whether you’re dorming or sharing an apartment or house with someone, this book is a must have. Not only does Simpson focus on roommates, she includes the experience of moving out of your parents’ house for the first time and how to make the most out of your newfound freedom.

Inside the book, you will find ideas for hosting, crafting and decorating. To the reader’s benefit, there are also personality quizzes and flowcharts to help them answer questions about their relationship with their roommate – such as, “Should I eat that without asking?”

Anyone who has ever been, or has had, a roommate knows how awkward the first stage of living together is. You’re not sure what you can share, you don’t know what their pet peeves are yet, and you certainly don’t know when it’s the right time to get completely comfortable around them. This book helps you to get through that weird first stage and start the path to a beautiful friendship.

Being a freshman in college and moving out of my home for the first time, this book definitely came in handy for me as a guide to my new life. I’ve learned how to form an even better relationship with my roommate and how to be as respectful as possible, while also getting a few good laughs in. Okay, that was an understatement; I laughed throughout the entire book.

Whether you’re searching for help with an uncooperative roommate, trying to learn how to better share a space or simply want a fun read – get a copy of The Roommate Book. It’s a great read for both adults and teenagers, and the quizzes and activities are a fun bonus.
