As I waited in line to order my morning coffee at Café Diem, a young student caught my attention. Her lively colored attire along with her killer shoes stood out among her peers. As soon as I discovered her, I knew she had to be our fashionista of the week. I am delighted to introduce everyone to Lizzette Gonzalez, a sophomore and a Fashion Studies major at Montclair State. Here’s what Lizzette had to say…
When you’re on campus, what is your favorite “on campus” style or outfit?
I like to be comfortable if I have long school days, so I like to wear oversized vintage sweaters with nice printed leggings.
What would you say is out of style for 2012? Anything on campus that you would consider a fashion don’t?
I would consider Uggs, sweats and pajamas all fashion don’ts, especially on campus.
What style advice would you offer to the girls of Montclair?
You can be trendy and chic on a college budget. Fashion isn’t about money or having luxurious items, instead it’s about feeling and looking good.
Who is your fashion icon?
How would you describe your style? Is it in a category or not? (Categories : Hipster, Classy Chic, Edgy, etc.)
I would describe my style as not fitting in a category, but more of standing out, thinking outside the box and mixing different trends.
Who is your favorite fashion designer?
Favorite fashion quote or any quote?
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening” – Coco Chanel
What store do you normally shop at?
I usually shop at thrift stores, Urban Outfitters, H&M, Zara, and Necessary Clothing.
